Our practice is built from the ground with the latest in new new technology This includes the latest in streaming digital imaging that allows the patient to see what the doctor sees. We've carried this technology through with electronic fields,  retinal imaging, corneal topography, specular microscopy and anterior segment care. Having a fully electronic practice allows us to concentrate on the best in patient care. We also carry a large selection of over 1000 frames and high hydration (dry eye) contact lenses. These contact lenses work especially well here in the desert. We have a full service nano technology lab in office. This is the only anti-reflective coating lab in the valley and can provide quick turnaround. Surgeries are completed in house (eyelid surgery, chalazion removal and surgeries not requiring intravenous sedation) or at the La Quinta surgery center. The practice offers care for glaucoma, cornea and cataracts as well as special types of contact lenses such as hybrid, scleral and orthokeratology. All consulting physicians are board certified and fellows of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The practice is owners are Dr. Greg Evans O.D. and Dr. Victor Holmes M.D.

 

Some of our specialty equipment includes the following:

-Zeiss I-profiler wavefront abberometer and scanning laser topographer. (allowing us to prescribe wavefront customed lenses and better diagnos and treat corneal eye disease)

-RAPDX - neuro-pupil analyzer allows us to pick up nerve transmission problems called afferent pupil defects in patients with optic nerve disease such as parkinsons, MS, glaucoma and optic atrophy.

Optovue  OCT - a scanning laser ocular coherence tomographer. This is new for 2012 and includes a host of diagnostic features including retinal care such as dry and wet macular degeneration, epiretinal membranes, macular edema and diabetic eye disease. It also can scan the optic nerve for glaucoma changes, nerve fiber layer for thinning (glaucoma), ganglion cell layer for early glaucoma diagnosis. Our new model can scan the anterior chamber angle for narrow angle glaucoma, posterior chamber iris cysts and other anterior chamber disease. Power calculations for intra-ocular lenses (cataract surgery lenses) can be more accurately determined in post-operative cases with the newly FDA approved power fuction of this OCT. We will be using this to help us more accurately determine intra-ocular lens power on our cataract cases.

Specular Microscopy - this high resolution microscope can identify, count and analyze corneal endothelial cells that we can't even see with our regular microscopes. It's invaluable for managing contact patients as it can pick up cell changes from contact lens induced damage more sensitively than any other method. It is also very helpful in directing our surgical approach to cataract care based on the health of the cornea.
